Day 2 - New Updates
Posted on Monday, March 02, 2009 by Ian Drake
I got a lot of great feedback today, especially from a co-worker at my daytime client. Thanks Thomas! Who knew you had such an eye for usability.
Much of his comments have been integrated into the website and were released a few hours ago. If you had problems with the website tonight, it was probably me releasing these updates. Sorry ;)
These updates include:
1) A better work flow for signing up, activating your account, and installing the agent software.
2) The status of the Ad Alerts now says "Disabled" until the Agent software is installed, which better represents the actual status, since your Ad Alerts don't get run if you haven't installed the software. At this point participation in the NotifyWire grid is mandatory.
3) Login is now near the top right of the page, where people often expect such things.
4) The Sign Up button and "What is Ad Alert?" box are now hidden if you're logged in.
5) You can now delete alerts from the Alert History page. Most of my searches don't generate many results, but Thomas quickly had 10 results from one of his searches and wanted to clear them out of his history. Done and done!
6) I also added a small orange information box with search tips.
Everyone, keep the suggestions rolling in.
